Unique, queer freak-pop duo The Vanity Project have dropped their latest single, ‘Earthbound’. It’s “a song about wanting to shed one’s corporeal form and dissolve into the aether,” that transcends genre. A Caroline Polacheck-esque, glittery modern art-pop sound sits at the track’s core, but it is blended with a theatrical amalgamation of new wave, psychedelia and jangle-pop, delivered via a soundscape of delightfully warm synth sounds. They describe their upcoming debut album as “a mad, sprawling mess of vintage synthesizers and bizarre instruments spanning several floors.” Keep an ear out for it. -Dan Peeke
